The yarn count expresses the thickness of the yarn, and must be known before calculating the quantity of yarns for a known length of fabric. There are four systems of yarn count are currently in use: 1.The fixed weight(NM): is used for numbering spun yarns. It is based on the length of the yarn per l.0 gram and is measured in metric (NM).; 2.The English Cotton Count systems(Ne): When a yarn is plied, that is, when two yarns of identical count are twisted together, the yarn is twice as thick, and therefore the length of yarn per lb is halved. E.g.: 22/2’s cotton; the length of this yarn would be 22 x 840 divided by 2 = 9240 yards per lb. 3.The fixed length(Den): states the weight in grams per 9000 meters. 4.The Tex systems(Tex): represents the weight in grams per 1000 meters of yarn. We are mainly produce fancy yarn and chenille yarn, and use the fixed weight system (metric) to expresses the thickness of the yarn.
Metric Count (Nm): Nm = m / 1.0g |
Denier Count (den): Den = g / 9000m |
|
English Cotton Count (Ne or S): Ne=840yd / 1.0 Lb or Ne=768.1m / 453.59g |
Tex Count (Tex): Tex = g / 1000m |
From others count to metric (Nm): Nm = 1000 / Tex Nm = 9000 / den Nm = 1.69 * Ne From others count to Tex (tex) Tex = 1000 / Nm Tex = 9 * den Tex = 590 / NeB From to others to denier (den) den = 9000/ Nm den = tex/ 9 den = 5314 / NeB From others count to English cotton count (NeB) NeB = 0.59 *Nm NeB = 590 / tex NeB = 5315 / den |
